SharePoint 2013 Development environment configuration

Hello everyone,

Today I will talk about the creation of a development environment for SharePoint 2013.

I do not want to do a full tutorial, there are already a lot on the web (including the TechNet Wiki :

I’m going to talk about a problem that occurs when Visual Studio 2012 is installed and you want to use SharePoint 2013 templates … which are not there by default!

To install these templates, a good article can be found here:

If the article is interesting, a comment is also for people wanting to do as little as possible! Indeed, instead of having to download and install the provided list of elements, there is a “bundle pack” containing all (or almost all) of the elements!

This bundle is available at:  (Deepak Rajan thank you for this info!).

However, unlike his comment, when I wanted to do the installation, everything did not work properly. In fact I found myself confronted with the error described in the article.

« An error occurred whilst trying to load some required components, Please ensure the following prerequisite components are installed.

Microsoft Web Developer Tools

Microsoft Exchange Web Services»

In order to correctly install the template, we must proceed by combining the steps in the article and comment:

1)      Download and install the “bundle pack”

2)      Download the “Microsoft Exchange Web Service” package EwsManagedApi32.msi :

3)      Run the installation of web service exchange via a command window with the command :

EwsManagedApi32.msi addlocal="ExchangeWebServicesApi_Feature,ExchangeWebServicesApi_Gac"

N.B : You must restart Visual Studio for the changes to take effect.

Hope this helps
